We’re gathering in Mesa, Arizona on January 13, 2027, and we want the trip to be the easy part. Here’s everything we know so far about flights, hotels, and making a long weekend of it in the Sonoran Desert — with more details to come as we lock them in.

Flying in
Fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). It’s a major hub with direct flights from most big cities, and it sits right in the middle of the metro area.
- Drive time to the venue
- Lindsay Grove is in Mesa, about 25 minutes from Sky Harbor in normal traffic — give it a little extra at rush hour.
- Rideshare
- Uber and Lyft both operate throughout the Phoenix area and pick up directly at Sky Harbor, so getting around without a rental car is very doable.

January in Phoenix
Typical January conditions are exactly why we picked winter in the desert: mild, sunny days and crisp, starry nights. It genuinely gets cold once the sun goes down, so bring a layer for the evening.

Eat, drink, do

Desert Botanical Garden
A classic introduction to the Sonoran Desert — saguaros, wildflowers, and winding trails, all an easy visit from central Phoenix.
Camelback Mountain
Phoenix’s most famous hike, with big views over the valley. Strenuous — for an easier walk, Papago Park nearby is a gentler option.
Old Town Scottsdale
Galleries, patios, and plenty of restaurants within a few walkable blocks — a good default for a free afternoon or evening.
Roosevelt Row
Downtown Phoenix’s arts district — murals, coffee shops, and small galleries if you want something more urban.
